Building Our Future
A Campaign to Enrich Education, Build Community, & Preserve History
Hanover Tavern Foundation Reaches $2 Million Fundraising Goal
Hanover Tavern Foundation is pleased to announce the successful completion of its “Building Our Future” campaign, raising $2,001,800. This initiative focused on construction of the state-of-the-art E. J. Wade Coach House Education & Events Center, maintenance and improvements to the historic Tavern, and enhancements to educational and cultural programming provided to the community.
Hanover Tavern Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to the Board of Directors, Campaign Steering Committee, staff, volunteers, and the many individual, corporate, and private foundation donors that made this campaign a success.
Since live stage performances have been a part of Tavern history for the past sixty-five years, it seems appropriate to highlight recognition opportunities within our 150 seat theater. We personally invite you to “Leave Your Legacy” by acknowledging, memorializing, and honoring past performers, friends, family members, sons, daughters, grandchildren, foundations, or companies by sponsoring a row or an individual seat. Your recognition plaque will be installed in perpetuity.
EXPAND YEAR ROUND SPACE FOR EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND EVENTS: Completed in the spring of 2015, the E.J. Wade Coach House provides much needed conditioned space for educational programs and community events such as weddings and corporate meetings.
ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMMING: The proposed educational and cultural programming consists of improved building interpretation, new Standards of Learning-based programming, outreach programs, dining entertainment, and summer camps all designed to provide a more comprehensive interpretation of the Tavern’s national importance in American, Virginia and local history.
INSTALL MUSEUM-QUALITY CONTROLS, IMPROVE HISTORIC EXHIBITS, AND CONTINUE THE PRESERVATION OF THE NATIONALLY SIGNIFICANT HANOVER TAVERN: Building repairs and enhancements include plaster repair, interior and exterior paint, new light fixtures, and furnishings for improved interpretation of the Tavern. Museum-quality improvements include installation of environment monitoring controls, an alarm system, and a backup emergency generator.
