10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This event is free with a suggested donation of $5.00
Hanover Tavern will host Knibb’s Battery, a living history program, and offe r free tours through out the day.
- Join the artillerists as they explain the process of preparing, loading, and firing Civil War artillery. The uniformed soldiers will explain the positions and responsibilities of each member of the cannon team and their needed equipment.
- Civil War Program starts at 11:15. “Civilian Life During the Civil War” In the South during the Civil War, every-day necessities became harder and more expensive to obtain. Meet a lady and listen as she tells about “making do” and dealing with life in the county as the armies passed through.
- Free Tours of the Tavern will be offered at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. throughout the day.

With a vocal quality seldom heard this day and age, his rich baritone voice easily fills the room with warm inviting tones. His exceptional song writing ability reveals life’s vulnerabilities and joys and in 2009 resulted in his being awarded “Songwriter of the Year” and the “New Horizon” award for “Best New Artist” from the Virginia Organization of Lyricists and Composers. Robbin Thompson has been a Richmond resident since 1969. He is the Vice President and co-founder of In Your Ear Music and Recording Corp . . . a company that composes and produces music for commercials and films. His musical career spans over 40 years and still counting. Following stints with the Tasmanians and Mercy Flight, Robbin was the lead singer in the Bruce Springsteen band Steel Mill. He has won the American Song Festival twice, and has recorded more than a dozen albums. Thompson, along with friend Steve Bassett, authored the song "Sweet Virginia Breeze," which is considered by many to be the unofficial state song of Virginia. He has also written and recorded songs with Eagles bassist Timothy B. Schmit (who also sings harmonies on many of Robbin's recordings

Guitarist/composer Chris Vasi arrived in Richmond, VA in 1995 with a music degree from University of Buffalo. Chris has a love for many different kinds of music and is currently performing a variety of styles, including modern and vintage jazz, rock, funk, blues, and world music. September 7, 2012

Nancy Hugo (Author)
Nancy Ross Hugo has been writing, lecturing, and teaching about trees, native plants, and floral design for over 30 years. As the garden columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, she wrote about natural history and gardening. As education manager of the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, she supervised adult and children's education. She is the author of Earth Works: Readings for Backyard Gardeners and, with Dr. Jeffrey Kirwan, of Remarkable Trees of Virginia. Her latest book, Seeing Trees: Discover the Extraordinary Secret Lives of Everyday Trees, published by Timber Press in 2011, has been described as "a book to change us all into unabashed tree worshipers".
