The evening begins with a cordial of Cherry Bounce, made fresh each year with Virginia sour cherries and using Martha Washington’s recipe.

Following, guests will be treated to a five-course candlelight supper in the historic Cage Bar featuring recipes from the personal 1744 cookbook of Eleanor Parks Shelton, wife of Tavern owner John Shelton –the future parents-in-law of Founding Father Patrick Henry. Supper will be accompanied by appropriate ales & liquors and set to the strings of period violin music.
The Shelton Supper is limited to 16 guests. $350 per seat. To reserve your seat, please email badams@hanovertavern.org or call 804-537-5050 x22.
All proceeds go to support Hanover Tavern Foundation (501c3).
