WWI & WWII Scanning Day
February 11 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
The Virginia WWI and WWII Commemoration Commission and the Library of Virginia have partnered to create a state-wide online collection of original World War I and World War II manuscripts that still remain in private hands. The Virginia World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission Project: Document Digitization and Access “Profiles of Honor Scanning Program” focuses on manuscript materials that reflect social, political, military, business, and religious life in Virginia during the periods of the World Wars.
The Profiles of Honor Scanning Program is a multi-year initiative to locate, digitize, and provide world-wide access to the private documentary heritage of the World War eras located throughout Virginia. Utilizing committees established by the Commission and through a partnership with the LVA and a network of statewide connections, the program will provide individuals an opportunity to have their historic letters, diaries, and other collections scanned to preserve their valuable intellectual content.
Bring your family documents and photos to Hanover Tavern between 11 and 4 on Sunday, February 11, and have them professionally scanned for posterity! Learn more about the program here.
