Theatre Menu

 

Welcome! We are glad to have you dining with us tonight and sharing in the tradition and history of dinner and theatre here at Hanover Tavern. Our goal is to provide excellent service and delicious food in time for one of Virginia Repertory Theatre’s legendary plays. Those of you who dine with us regularly will notice that this menu has fewer offerings. We provide a limited theatre menu in order for our wait staff and kitchen to serve a large number of guests looking to be seated in the theatre in a timely manner for the 8 pm show. The Theatre Menu is offered to all guests who choose to join us for dinner on the night of a play, whether you are patronizing the theatre or simply enjoying dinner out at the Tavern. We hope you understand. To partake of our full menu options, please come back and join us earlier in the week. We hope you enjoy your experience at the Hanover Tavern, where history, dining, and theatre have been charming guests for generations.

ACT I

 

Fried Green Tomatoes  $7

with mixed greens, house made pimento cheese dressing, chopped bacon

Rappahannock Fried Oysters $9

with blackened remoulade, pickled red cabbage

Hot Vidalia Crab Dip  $8

Lump crab, cheddar, and sweet vidalia onions, warm flatbread wedges

Grits Fritters  $7

three cheese  Byrd’s Mill grits, panko breaded and fried, with red pepper jelly

House Salad  $5

mixed greens, cherry tomato, carrot, cucumber, red onion

your choice of dressing: ranch, balsamic vinaigrette, blue cheese, thousand island, cranberry vinaigrette, pumpkin goddess, red wine vinaigrette

Chesapeake Style Crab Cakes $25

Seared lump crab cakes with with asparagus, mushroom cous cous, & beet cocktail

Shrimp and Grits  $18

jumbo shrimp over local byrd’s mill white cheddar grits in a light sherry cream sauce with bacon

Marmalade Chicken $18

cranberry orange marmalade glazed chicken breast with roasted beets & pumpkin polenta

Pork Loin $20

8 oz of pork loin chops with yukon gold mashed potatoes, braised red cabbage, spiced apple compote and hard cider reduction

Southern Meatloaf $13

With southern style green beans, mac’n’cheese, and mushroom brown gravy

Grilled Salmon* $21

ocean-raised salmon* with pepper jelly glaze, crispy brussels sprouts, & creamy wild rice risotto

Beef* Petit Tender  $23

ACT III

Save room for dessert! Our kitchen is whipping up seasonal desserts, crème brulees, and our decadent brownie a la mode as a perfect end to your meal. Your server will tempt you with today’s selections.
