AutumnFest: Hanover AutumnFest 5K on September 30 is open to runners and walkers of all ages and experience levels. Race will start at the Hanover County Courthouse complex, continue past the historic Hanover Tavern, through the scenic back roads of Hanover County, pass the historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and finish back at the County Courthouse complex.

Civil War Bus Tours: Twice a year (spring and fall) The Hanover Tavern Foundation host a guided bus tour that focuses on a lesser known engagement in Hanover County and features stops at private homes and properties that are not available to the general touring population. Participants enjoy breakfast, and lunch.

Heritage Music Series: The Heritage Music Series pays tribute to Hanover Tavern’s cultural history by bringing varying musicians from around the nation to play music with a cultural and historic basis to the Tavern. All musical groups perform their music while also telling the story of their culture, instruments, and melodies. The shows are the first Wednesday of each month, and are open to the public free of charge.

Speaker Series: As part of the educational experience at Hanover Tavern every third Tuesday of the month we feature a new author, speaker, or presentation that explore different topics unique to the history of the United States, Virginia, Hanover County, or the Tavern. Past programs have included hearth cooking, wine tasting, authors, architects, Civil War presentations, and historic collections.

Family Fun Days are events designed for children and families as follows:

Christmas Open House is to be an old-fashion community event that includes an outside tree lighting, area business and home window candle lighting, trees within the Tavern, Santa and Mrs. Claus, carolers, and Snow Bear. Free of charge. Sponsorship is $1,500 and has distinct benefits and recognition.
