Are there features that cannot be seen on a normal tour? Of course\, there are!\nExplore the inadmissible\, hidden spaces with David Deal\, the Executive Director of Hanover Tavern Foundation. From basement to attic\, the old Tavern has a lot to reveal\, if you know where to look. \nTour will include 2-3 flights of stairs and a short period outdoors\, so dress accordingly. Long pants and closed-toe shoes preferred. No skirts or heels. Please bring a flashlight as we will explore basement and attic areas. \nLimited space. SUMMARY:2026 Paracon at Hanover Tavern!
DESCRIPTION:Start 2026 off right and join us for the Hanover Tavern ParaCon on January 30th and 31st!\nThis is our first year as a Two-Day ParaCon! \nWhether you’ve joined us at the Hanover Tavern before\, or this will be your first time exploring this beautiful building\, welcome to the Hanover Tavern ParaCon! \n​We’re going to have a jam-packed weekend of Paranormal fun and learning. You’ll be among some of the most selfless and knowledgeable individuals\, groups\, teams\, and organizations within the Paranormal. This event is about coming together as a community to unite under one roof in support of the Tavern. \n​100% of the proceeds from the Hanover Tavern ParaCon will be going directly to the Hanover Tavern Foundation\, with the intent and purpose to support the Foundation in their continued efforts to protect and interpret the Tavern and to provide educational programming for all. Historic sites are a beacon of knowledge and provide opportunities for growth\, not only for the paranormal field\, but also the community at large. ​Join us as we rally around the Hanover Tavern to support these endeavors and find yourself part of something bigger than all of us. \nThere has been a Tavern on the property since 1733\, when the first license for a Tavern at Hanover Courthouse was issued. The existing Tavern was built in stages and includes more than 12\,000 square feet on three floors. The earliest portion of this building dates back to 1791\, with additions in the 1820’s\, 1830’s\, and the 1990’s. Such historical figures as George Washington\, Lord Cornwallis\, Marquis de Lafayette\, and Patrick Henry visited the original 1750 Tavern. Visitors to the current building include Edgar Allen Poe and P.T. Barnum as well as Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War. \nWith so much history packed into this building\, we wonder if every guest that checked into Hanover Tavern truly checked out. The numerous paranormal teams who have investigated the Tavern would tell you\, ‘no’\, citing disembodied voices\, full body apparitions\, and countless EVPs suggesting that no one is ever truly alone in the Tavern. \n100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Hanover Tavern Foundation for their continued restoration and protection efforts\, as well as educational programming!
