You’ll be among some of the most selfless and knowledgeable individuals\, groups\, teams\, and organizations within the Paranormal. This event is about coming together as a community to unite under one roof in support of the Tavern. \n​100% of the proceeds from the Hanover Tavern ParaCon will be going directly to the Hanover Tavern Foundation\, with the intent and purpose to support the Foundation in their continued efforts to protect and interpret the Tavern and to provide educational programming for all. Historic sites are a beacon of knowledge and provide opportunities for growth\, not only for the paranormal field\, but also the community at large. ​Join us as we rally around the Hanover Tavern to support these endeavors and find yourself part of something bigger than all of us. \nThere has been a Tavern on the property since 1733\, when the first license for a Tavern at Hanover Courthouse was issued. The existing Tavern was built in stages and includes more than 12\,000 square feet on three floors. The earliest portion of this building dates back to 1791\, with additions in the 1820’s\, 1830’s\, and the 1990’s. Such historical figures as George Washington\, Lord Cornwallis\, Marquis de Lafayette\, and Patrick Henry visited the original 1750 Tavern. Visitors to the current building include Edgar Allen Poe and P.T. Barnum as well as Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War. \nWith so much history packed into this building\, we wonder if every guest that checked into Hanover Tavern truly checked out. The numerous paranormal teams who have investigated the Tavern would tell you\, ‘no’\, citing disembodied voices\, full body apparitions\, and countless EVPs suggesting that no one is ever truly alone in the Tavern. \n100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to Hanover Tavern Foundation for their continued restoration and protection efforts\, as well as educational programming! DESCRIPTION:ATLAS Partnership is thrilled to partner with Foster Solomon\, Jerold Solomon\, and Ron Klipp — the creative team behind Gabriel\, a soaring new musical that tells the story of Gabriel’s Rebellion\, one of the most important slave uprisings in Virginia and American history. \nBorn in 1776\, Gabriel embodied a vision that transcended the American Revolution\, becoming a powerful force for justice and social conscience. While Thomas Jefferson\, George Washington\, and Patrick Henry fought for independence\, Gabriel grew up witnessing the promises of liberty denied to 300\,000+ enslaved Virginians. In 1800\, Gabriel risked—and ultimately sacrificed—his life for freedom. \nGabriel the musical was originally developed and produced at Firehouse Theatre in Fall 2022. Early in its development\, the project was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (one of only 17 musical theatre grants awarded nationally in 2020). SUMMARY:Paranormal Investigation: Four Haunted Locations - One Haunting Night!
DESCRIPTION:Join us July 19th to investigate not one\, but FOUR locations in one night. The Hanover Tavern\, the Old Stone Jail\, the Historic Courthouse\, and the Historic Clerk of Courts are all tied together in history; and now you’ll be able to investigate each of them.\nThe Hanover Tavern \nThe earliest portion of the Tavern being built in 1791\, there was a Tavern on the property spanning back to 1733. One of only a few surviving colonial-era Taverns in the United States\, the Hanover Tavern hosted such historic figures as George Washington\, Lord Cornwallis\, Patrick Henry\, P.T. Barnum\, Marquis de Lafayette\, and more. Both Union and Confederate troops utilized the Tavern on their way to and from the battlefields. \nThe Old Stone Jail \nBuilt in 1835\, the Old Stone Jail was not a place you wanted to spend any time; criminals of all kinds were kept within these walls. The jail consists of 4 rooms; 2 cells occupy the lower floor\, one cell on the upper floor\, and one room that housed the jail’s warden and his men. It wasn’t until 1916 that glass windows were installed in the building. Prior to this\, the only thing protecting inmates indoors from the cold\, harsh winters outdoors were iron bars. \nThe Historic Courthouse \nThe Third-longest continuous-use courthouse in the United States sits here in Hanover County; the Historic Hanover Courthouse. Built in 1735\, the courthouse saw countless cases. Most significantly\, this Courthouse played host to Patrick Henry when he argued the Parsons’ Cause case – a spark of the American Revolution. Many troops passed by the Courthouse – both during the Revolutionary War and Civil War. Sustaining mild damage during the American Revolution\, the courthouse was repaired in time to see further conflict during the Civil War. The Battle of Hanover Courthouse brought heavy skirmishes to the area on May 27\, 1862\, and when the Union forces returned to the Courthouse at the end of May 1864\, they imprisoned Hanover County’s Clerk of Court. \n𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 \nThe Historic Old Clerk’s Office has served Hanover County since 1835. It remains in use today\, recently being renovated with the opening of the new Hanover Museum of History & Culture. \nFor years\, guests of each of these locations report eerie experiences of ghost apparitions\, smells\, and un-explainable noises. Now we have access to investigate those claims. Are previous Hanover Tavern keepers still roaming the halls? Are inmates still inhabiting the cells of the Old Stone Jail? Or are court cases still being played out to this day in the Historic Courthouse? It’s time to find out for yourself. \nWe have investigated all of these locations numerous times and have come away with proof of the paranormal on every visit. Guests of these locations often report eerie experiences of ghostly apparitions\, smells\, and noises that could never be explained. \nThis is a fundraising paranormal investigation! All proceeds of this event directly and entirely benefit Hanover Tavern Foundation\, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Get your tickets: July Paranormal Investigation \nPLEASE NOTE: \nYou are welcome to bring your own equipment to investigate. \nWe will break into small groups at each site to investigate. Each group will be led by an investigator with equipment which will utilized for the investigation! \nWe will be outside to organize for the event\, as well as traveling from building to building\, so please dress accordingly. \nPlease do not put on fragrances before the investigation. Smells are often reported at these locations and it will be difficult to identify if we are wearing fragrances. \nPlease do not wear loose jewelry\, baggy clothing\, etc. These often make extra sounds and noises that will make listening to and identifying EVPs difficult! \nThere will be identified spots if you need to smoke a cigarette. Please make sure you dispose of your cigarette butts accordingly. \nPlease do not plan to investigate under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We will ask you to leave the premises if so. \nWeapons of any kind are strictly forbidden. \nBring your equipment! We’ll have some that you can use within your groups\, but you are welcome to bring any equipment you have for investigating that you can carry with you. A flashlight is highly encouraged. Additionally\, if you do not have an audio recorder\, bring your phone! We’ll ask you to put it in airplane mode\, but you can still record audio onto your cellphone – a large number of people on our investigations have recorded EVPs on their phones! \nMost importantly\, have fun! This paranormal investigation is for you\, so bring your ideas and thoughts for investigating! You never know what\, or who\, you will run into\, and we value your unique ideas and suggestions for investigating these locations! We urge you to be ready to be involved in the investigation!
