DESCRIPTION:Do you ever wonder about the unseen areas within the Tavern?  Curious about the spaces that are “Not Open to the Public” or for “Staff Only”? \nAre there secrets?  Are there mysteries?  Are there features that cannot be seen on a normal tour?  Of course\, there are! \nExplore the inadmissible\, hidden spaces with David Deal\, the Executive Director of Hanover Tavern Foundation.  From basement to attic\, the old Tavern has a lot to reveal\, if you know where to look. \nTwo times to choose from: 6:30 pm & 7:45 pm. Tour lasts approximately one hour and will involve climbing 2-3 flights of stairs and some time outdoors\, so dress accordingly. \nAll proceeds go to support Hanover Tavern Foundation\, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

DESCRIPTION:The Hanover Tavern Foundation and the living historians of the Virginia Line invite you to attend a unique and exciting Living History Event of the American War for Independence on Saturday\, February 17th\, 2024\, on the grounds of the Hanover Tavern.\nThis year\, the Virginia Line is shifting focus to cover the Loyalist side of the war and those Americans living the colonies who remained true to the Crown. They will portray Captain Eli Branson’s Independent Company of Loyal NC Volunteers. These men joined up with Cornwallis following the Battle of Guildford Courthouse and accompanied his Army throughout its forays and battles in Virginia in 1781\, and were present at the surrender in Yorktown.\nThis event is FREE for the public.

Listen and hear the gripping saga as they convey through song and story\, the origins of Chants and Rhythms from the mouths of Mighty African Warriors to the Enslaved in Bondage and the Yearnings of Spirituals for strength and message. Hearken to the powerful Ministries of Gospel\, to the inspirational Melodies of Blues/Jazz\, to the trending production of “ Boogie-Woogie ” & Rock and Roll\, to the soulful Rhythm and Blues (R & B) and what became known as “ “Blue-eyed Soul”\, to the discovery of Hip Hop/ Rap to current day genres. \nAND \nJESSI JOHNSON PETERSON -Jessi is a well-known local vocalist and actress with roots and ancestral lineage from Hanover County\, VA. She has appeared at Hanover Tavern before\, most recently in “A Broadway Christmas!
