Hanover Tavern Foundation is excited to announce its one-of-a-kind Antiques at the Tavern event May 5th-7th! Historic Hanover Tavern will host 20 hand-selected dealers offering for sale a variety of period furniture, ceramics, silver, pottery, jewelry, art, books, linens, folk art, and much more! It promises to be a fun and educational weekend. All proceeds from this event support Hanover Tavern Foundation.
The show opens Friday evening with a reception for those guests who appreciate the opportunity for early shopping in a relaxed setting. There will be music, open bar, and hors d’oeuvres. On Saturday, May 6th, at 5:30 PM special guest speaker Sumpter Priddy III, an industry recognized expert in antique furnishings, artifacts, and architecture. He will be lecturing on “Inlaid Furniture of the Southern Backcountry” in the Bradley Theater.
Forget about those preconceived notions about antiques. The days of grandma’s furniture displayed in the living room “museum” where no one is allowed to go are OVER! Antique collecting is affordable and fun for all ages. Antiques represent an age of quality craftsmanship, before mass production. It took years to learn a given trade where craftsman transitioned from apprentice to journeyman to master of the craft. This high-quality craftsmanship has resulted in durable pieces that are hundreds of years old but are still useable today to mix and match with all decors. This is your chance to take home an original in which the beauty, design, quality, and functionality are timeless!
This show promises to be rewarding for existing collectors as well as eye-opening for the curious, new generation of collectors. This will truly be a memorable occasion; one that will become an annual favorite for all collectors, old and new.
